Leading up to the 2012 Academy Awards, Kenneth McCoy was called on by the New York Daily News to create nine cocktails inspired by the Best Picture nominees. Kenneth ‘s creations were photographed, and all of his recipes were featured in a story in the Sunday edition of the paper.
Along with each recipe, Kenneth provided a little insight into how he conceptualized the drink and how it tied back to the nominated film. His “Midnight in Paris” cocktail is a perfect example of both his cocktail acumen and his ability to weave a narrative into every drinking experience.
Midnight in Paris
When this movie had come out, I had just returned from Paris. This cocktail is inspired by the famous French75 cocktail, I wanted to bring to life the magic and romanticism of Paris.
1 ounce No. 3 gin
1 teaspoon simple syrup
1/2 ounce lemon juice
Shake and strain into a coupe glass. Top with Champagne and garnish with a lemon twist.
